Chandlerville, IL: Lost/Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railroad Depot

(Satellite, the track was just east of IL-78, so the depot would have been somewhere along there.)

I try to avoid using the label "rrOther," but no bigger railroad ever wanted this route.

The Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railroad Depot in Chandlerville, Illinois. The Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railroad (CP&StL) once served Chandlerville, Illinois, as part of a line connecting Jacksonville to Havana. The CP&StL's route that passed through Chandlerville was initially built by the Illinois River Railroad, which opened a section from Virginia to Pekin in 1859. This line eventually became part of the Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railway in 1881. However, the railroad experienced financial difficulties throughout its history. In November 1924, its property was sold off due to foreclosure. The section of the line running from Jacksonville to Havana, which included Chandlerville, was acquired by the Jacksonville & Havana Railroad, but was eventually abandoned. Therefore, while the Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railroad did operate in Chandlerville at one time, that line has since been abandoned.

The railroad is labeled as Jacksonville and Havana on this map.

But just six years later, I can't find the depot. I do see two grain elevators.

The grain elevators have expanded onto the railroad's RoW.
