Mill: (
Satellite)
Within a block of this mill is a
1914 truss bridge over the Smoky Hills River.
I thought the above photos was missing the belts that would come down from the ceiling to the main drive shaft. But this photo shows that the line shaft runs along the floor behind the roller mills.
An even better view of the drive belts.
"8 Sifter"
Not everything was belt driven.
They have most, but not all, belts.
That village includes a depot.
With a steam locomotive on the other side. And some farm machinery in the background.
And some even older farm machinery inside a building.
Bob Summers
posted four photos with the comment: "Lindsborg Kansas had this early flour mill on the Smoky Hill River. Originally a water powered “grist mill” using mill stones, was rebuilt as a “roller mill” after the original was destroyed in a fire. No grain elevator remains. Is open daily for tours."
Dennis DeBruler: I see from the photos on Google Maps that a lot of the belts for the line shafts were added as part of the restoration that was completed in 1981.
