La Pryor, TX: loading spinach with bushel baskets

Jeff Bransky It's been a long time since I have seen a real bushel basket. They existed before corrugated cardboard was widely used. A light weight container using a minimal amount of wood.

Notice the baskets are stacked upside down. And they are lifting with their backs instead of their knees. Talk about back-breaking work.

Dennis DeBruler I just noticed the big block of ice on the right side of the photo. That is what would have come out of the ice making plant to shove into the bunkers. Someone had to chop one up to ice the baskets.
