Steven J. Brown caught a picture of the building as one of two pictures posted with the comment: "Shots from caboose #431 on a westbound Iowa Interstate freight on the ex-Rock Island - March 1986."

Chicago Rock Island and Pacific depot at La Salle, Illinois. Just to the left of the steam loco was the Burlington Route depot on the branch to Streator. My brother and I would hang out here while mom went visiting relatives.
Harold J. Krewer Boarded the Rockets there many times.
In later years, after the depot in Peru closed, the station was renamed LaSalle-Peru. On the pictured (east) end the depot was lettered "LaSalle-Peru" but on the other (west) end of the building (the end facing Peru) it was lettered "Peru-LaSalle."
Depot still there and well-maintained. Was a lawn mower/small engine business for many years but recently sold and will become a privately-owned art gallery/museum.
Ed Brown Cool picture Roger. Any idea what year? Note the extended platform across the westbound main.
A unique depot, waiting room on top level. You had to board trains by walking down stairs. I believe there is another set of stairs on the inside.
