Logansport, IN: Wabash and Erie Canal and Mill Race

The map also shows the W&E Canal on today's Erie St. and 5th St.  It was abandoned c1876, but I understand that part of it remained in operation in Logansport.
I don't know if there was a dam on the Wabash, or if they dug the mill race far enough upstream that they created a sufficient head in the town. It doesn't look like they sold too many of the water poeer sites. Note the ones that did sell are furthest downriver because they would have the highest head. Now that I know what to look for, I see the mill race and water power sites in the above 1876 map.

Two more maps, these from 1894.  One shows the 17th St. bridge (bridge #2), and the other shows the west end of Hamilton Mill Race in that year.
