I normally don't note depots in Chicagoland because commuter service has preserved the location, if not the building, of most of them. But that is not true for ICwest.
Bill Molony posted The Illinois Central depot at Elmhurst, Illinois. Bill Molony posted with the same comment Tom Podraza: That ELMHURST sign is now on the restored CGW depot up the street. Bill Molony posted with the same comment Peter Jirousek: It’s hard to see but there was a siding to the left of the depot here. |

Jim Arvites posted View of the westbound Illinois Central passenger train "Land 'O Corn" passing the old Elmhurst, Illinois depot in May 1962. (Rick Burn Photo) Steven Hooker shared Richard Fiedler shared Christopher J Elonich: Train is westbound in a really great photo! The Station is long gone, as is the old freight station. There used to be a switch at York Street that took trains to a bulk oil plant (west of York). If one was to try to sheet this same scene, today, most of the pix would be the back side of a strip mall. Sigh! Tim Kelling shared Elmhurst Illinois (Illinois Central depot) |
