Ardi Carl posted Bedford depot. |
You can still see tracks by the depot on the satellite image. But Bedford no longer has any railroad service. Bedford used to be on Monon's mainline between Chicago and Louisville,
I wonder how the limestone industry in the area is doing because my experience is that the the roads in this area would make trucking a pain.
Jeremy Harris posted These were taken at Bedford right before the Evil INRD ripped out the track. [This is one of 17 pictures he posted.] |

Eric Berg posted Anybody know what the building directly west of the Bedford depot was used for? Date and photographer on this photo unknown. Steven Stafford Boiler House Robert Day That building was still standing into the 70s Kenneth Jackson Station was heated with hot water from a boiler like many houses used to be. Because of the size of the boiler needed to heat a building as large as Bedford station it was housed in a separate building. Not an unusual set up for the time. |
Steven Stafford commented on Eric's post Still there in the early 80’s. |

Dave Arganbright posted Classic railroading at its finest. Milwaukee Road run through has his orders hooped up to him by the Bedford agent on November 6, 1983. My photo. [It looks like the agent has to walk from the Milwaukee depot to the Monon depot.] |
2017: Rick L Whitehead posted three photos with the comment: "Milwaukee Depot in Bedford Indiana.
This station was moved 300 yds to the south of its orginal location and was built in 1899. Now it is a tourist and information center here in town. The move was amazing to watch!!!"
Rick L Whitehead 3 years later [2020] it still sits on its new lot,Empty!
John Arnholt I need to go see these 2 in Bedford. Milwaukee and B&O.
Dennis DeBruler B&O? I thought the other one was Monon.
