Chicago, IL: Palmer House Hotel

Richard Pitchford posted
The Palmer House Hotel, State and Monroe, 1875, Chicago
This photo would have been the second Palmer Hotel building. The first one burned down 13 days after the grand opening in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. (PalmerHouse) The brick building we see today was built 1923-25.  (Wikipedia1)

The brownie was invented at Bertha Palmer's request in 1893. Since they serve "a dessert to patrons made from the same recipe," that gives me another reason to visit the hotel. (Wikipedia2) The opulent lobby is a reason to visit the hotel.
