1939 Grain Elevator: (Satellite)
It looks like they had an "elevator row" with four grain elevators.

Andy Zukowski posted Santa Fe Railroad Depot at Benson, Illinois. C.1910 Richard Fiedler: The ROW through Benson is very discernible still but between Roanoke and Benson it’s completely plowed under. Pretty much the same story elsewhere along the route. Richard Fiedler shared |
A topo map was not useful. In this aerial photo, we see the shadow of a long skinny rectangle along the tracks between Linn and State Streets. Because of the distinctive shadow, we can tell that the building a block northeast of the depot was a grain elevator.

I looked for more aerial photos to confirm the location of the depot. Of the 1957 and 1963 photos, the 1957 photo had better exposure. We not only clearly see a building along the tracks, we see a block long paved platform between it and the tracks. And we see the paved area beside the depot that has milk cans in the photo. We also see that it still has just the one grain elevator.

The town now has a rather large grain elevator considering their loss of rail service. We are looking down the former RoW of the Sante Fe.

The elevator has bolted-steel silos (background) and jump-form silos (left side) in addition to several big steel bins (right side).
