Red Bank, NJ: (RG)/(RD) Junction Tower: Central RR of New Jersey vs. New York &Long Branch

(Satellite, the track used to do a sharp turn and go South on the west side of the tower. The land of the railyard south of this tower has been used to make a much more gentle curve to the South.)

Johnny Martin posted five images with the comment: "The former CNJ Southern Division, which diverged from the NY&LB at Red Bank, NJ became the Conrail Southern Secondary. Where there was previously a double track connection from CNJ to NY&LB, it was now made to be a single track connection with no diamond. Trains would cross over to the Eastbound main after crossing the Navesink Bridge. Here we see before and after photos of the Red Bank yard. The tower was demolished as part of the project."
Edward Klements: Worked in that tower as a engineer. The job was to protect the morning parade. We had an engine and would assist any train that broke down. Gives an idea of the shape of equipment at that time.

[A nice closeup of some 90-degree signaling pipeline cranks. It is also another demonstration that signaling pipelines can curve.]
