Their web site has photos showing that it took a lot of work to restore the depot. That web page also has a lot more photos than these three photos about the caboose restoration.

When I looked at a topo map, I noticed that B&O, as well as NYC and NKP, came through this town. That would explain why the museum has a B&O caboose at a NYC depot.

Originally dubbed the "Gem of Painesville" this Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway station was opened on February 1, 1893. It was the second station on these grounds, and is now home to the Painesville Railroad Museum, 475 Railroad Street, Painesville OH. 
Railroading on this property goes back to 1851 when the first station was built by the Cleveland, Painesville and Ashtabula Railroad.
On February 16, 1861, while on his inaugural train trip to Washington D.C., Abraham Lincoln  stopped here and gave a brief speech. He is remembered for commenting how lovely the ladies of Painesville were.— at The Western Reserve Railroad Association / The Painesville Railroad Museum.
