Ken Morris posted This is the American Sheet and Tin plate mill in Chester,WV. 40 miles North of Pittsburgh on the Ohio river. It was a part of USS. They closed it down in the late 20s and moved the operation to a little town called Gary Indiana where they started a bigger operation. The house that I now reside in and some of the surrounding houses were at one time, offices and hospitals for the mill. My grandfather worked there until they closed it. You can see in the picture some of the houses and a funeral home that are still there today. They built an elementary school on this site In 1963 that is still in existence today. No worries about a love canal here. |

The railroad that served it was a Big Four branch that came from downstream.
