Larry W Harrell: I'm not sure if you know but the old Pere Marquette depot stood over your left shoulder between this signal tower and Michigan Ave. Closer to Michigan than not. That depot is now at the history village at the Livingston County Fairgrounds in Fowlerville. Great photo! Thanks for posting!
[Note that this CSX route is still using searchlight signals. That means this route doesn't need PTC (Positive Train Control).]

C&O U30B 8201 leads a westbound under the signal bridge and past the depot at Howell "sometime in the 70s."  I'm presuming this is early 70s since the depot is still an open agency as evidenced by the still-in-service train order signal.  With this station positioned in the middle of CTC territory, I would suppose that few train orders were actually delivered here, except perhaps to protect a recently imposed slow order to any train that was already past the "normal" office where slow orders were placed for delivery.  In this case, I would guess that would be Plymouth for westward trains and Trowbridge (or Ensel after Trowbridge was gone) for eastward trains.  Perhaps a former GR dispatcher will weigh-in here.  Alan Smith?

Alan Smith: Ensel east and Plymouth west for slow orders

Larry W Harrell posted four photos with the comment: "Here are some photos I came across at an estate sale. I purchased the photo album. Photos cir: 1977. This in Howell MI. The depot was moved to Fowlerville, Michigan in 1994 and now houses several model RR layouts."

Where is the Howell depot in Fowlerville? I noticed that CSX evidently still owns the Pere Marquette depot. https://maps.app.goo.gl/gMbhx6RMfeX1fudW7

Never mind, I saw another one of your posts where you indicated it was in the fairgrounds. https://maps.app.goo.gl/NstVCCr4AMNSd5AHA
