The 2005 SPV Map shows that the PCCX railroad continued from here to Marissa and that the prep plant was along that extension. But satellite images show that the PCCX terminated here. The results of a Google search did not help locate the prep plant. The best address I found was "RR 2." The one GPS location I found was in downtown Marissa. That is clearly nonsense. Given that this location was fed coal from Peabody's River King #6, Baldwin and Marissa mines with conveyor belts, I think the prep plant was here. I found a reference that said this prep plant was fed by the Marissa mine and another reference that this plant served five mines. The conclusion that this was the prep plant location is reinforced by the buildings and silos that were still standing in 2005 even though the last mine shut down in 1999. I include the land to the north of the prep plant to show that there didn't use to be a loop of track here.

By the next image, the tall building was gone.

And by the next image, Aug 2007, only a few small buildings were still standing. That is, the conveyors and silos were gone.
The loop of track that we see today did not appear until this Aug 2010 image. Near the lower-left corner, I think we see some locomotives parked outside of an engine house.

It looks like it was a bulk material unloading facility. But which materials were handled and to where they were trucked is a mystery.

The prep plant was rebuilt in 1993 after it was damaged by a fire. [upi]
The efficiency of its six "classifying cyclone pumps" was improved in 1997. [energy]
