The PD&E is still intact from here to Peoria. But only a remnant goes southeast to serve the Tate & Lyle grain elevator.

Daniel C Carroll Jr. Well, that's an excellent find. I have an IC engineering department file on the closing of Karl Tower, but have never seen a picture. Karl was located on the west side of Mattoon. The IC main and Big Four main are grade separated in downtown Mattoon, but the ex-PD&E crossed the Big Four at grade – hence the reason for Karl. The Big Four came out in the early Eighties, but one can still make out where this interlocker used to be. Jon Roma |
