St. Paul, MN: 1965 Flood

Andrew's comment:
1965 flood in St. Paul, MN. The CB&Q Daytons Bluff Yard is on the left. The Milwaukee Road's "new yard" aka "Pig's Eye Yard" (it was built from 1955-1957), and the St. Paul Bridge & Terminal yard (which later became the C&NW's "Belt Yard"), and today is the U.P. "Hoffman Ave. yard. Dad shot this from the scenic overlook up on the bluff. The bridge is part of Warner Road, but for some of the old railroaders who know, there is an "obscure" street up on the bluff called Reserve Street which is a dead end & this bridge is also (by railroaders) as the Reserve Street Bridge. The building on this side of the bridge is the BURLINGTON Hotel, the hotel had a fire later in the year & was never rebuilt, it was there for almost 100 years.
Sadly today this whole area is all overgrown with trees, weeds & other "shrubbery" so thick that you cannot even see the tracks from this vantage point. Hopefully the city of St. Paul will get this all cleared out when they restore the staircase that went down the bluff to the Burlington Hotel (note the path to the left of the hotel).
