Neoga, IL: Junction Tower: NKP vs. IC, Grain Elevator and Depot

Mitch's comment: "Neoga Ill. Grain Elevator." It looks more like farmer silos than a grain elevator. But a steam engine on the abandoned Cloverleaf of NKP and the top of a junction tower was worth saving. The Illinois Central tracks still exist as CN tracks. The route to the east is now operated by the Eastern Illinois Railroad (EIRC).

Google Map's picture for the town includes a grain elevator in the background. Looking at a satellite image, a segment of the Cloverleaf still exists to just beyond Metcalf. Looking at a 1939 aerial photo, they kept the connector and removed the diamond in Neoga. The grain elevator is in the same general location, but rebuilt and, of course, larger.
