I'm learning the Egyptian Line one town at a time. Obviously the
Tunnel Hill State Trail was the Big Four RoW. The
new IC line goes over this line just a little east of town. The "Open" sign indicates that the depot may now be a museum. But I could not find any info on the museum on the Internet.

This is the Big 4 depot at Stonefort, Illinois on the Cairo Line. It was located at milepost 203.9 (from Danville), about 14 miles south of Harrisburg. It was the last "open station" between Harrisburg and Cairo, and was closed in 1964. Its current owner is a retired school administrator from Harrisburg; she is maintaining it in excellent condition as a depot museum - lots of Big 4 memorabilia inside. The railroad right of way here is a well utilized Southern Illinois bike trail, so her museum gets a fair amount of traffic. The original telegraph key & sounder from the Vienna, Illinois depot (as used by my Dad & Grandfather there) is on display here.
