Prescott, WI: Lost/CB&Q Depot

(Satellite, it has been replaced with a "depot looking" building.)

Some More CB&Q Prescott, Wisconsin, 1964
This is the first of a series that focuses on a CB&Q Tower or Depot. This one is on a depot and has two parts.
Prescott, WI is the northern most town in Wisconsin on the CB&Q. A few hundred feet north of the depot is the bridge over the St. Croix River which divides Minnesota and Wisconsin north of Prescott. The Mississippi divides the two states from Prescott south.
The depot is a simple building. I worked there the second half of June 1964 substituting for the vacationing regular Agent. The following 7 photos were all taken on June 24 or 25, 1964.
In Part 2 tomorrow I'll present a few of the trains that came by during those two weeks.

Looking south down the single track coming off the St. Croix River Bridge (behind me) at the station. Just beyond the station starts the double track main which continues (with a few short single-track segments) all the was south to Savanna, IL.

Paul Schmidt: Stayed in bunk cars similar to these in the late '80s when the present bridge was built.

I think this is the site today. Looks like a replacement depot.
Marty Bernard: Brad Dahlquist No. No platform. Probably a section house/office.

Same photo cropped. You can see the order boards which I don't remember ever using.

Looking at the depot from the south. The main street in town is just to my right.

Paul Schmidt: Top of the lift span of the bridge is visible above the right corner of depot roof.
[And there is another tower peaking through the trees further to the right.]
Highway Bridge that was adjacent to the railway bridge.
[In 1964, the CB&Q bridge was still a swing bridge.]

Looking at the depot from the main street. I stayed in a rooming house in town. At night if you turned on a light you could watch the roaches scurry away. I was 19 years old and could not care less.
