Benton, KS: Old and New Grain Elevators

Old: (Satellite, just the original wood elevator is still standing.)
New: (Satellite)

Bob Summers posted three photos with the comment: "Benton Kansas is the first elevator town west of El Dorado as we head toward Wichita.  The new elevator is east of town and the older wood elevator is in town.  The KGFA Kansas Grain Elevator Directory shows Mid Kansas Co-op with 188,000 bushels in the two elevators at this full service branch location.  Photographed 2020."
Bob Summers: I am told by my contact at MKC that the older complex in town is no longer in service, and that the capacity of the three corrugated galvanized steel bins is 900,000 bushel. They also have 500,000 bushels in covered ground piles, or flat storage.

They built the greenfield elevator close to the railroad, so I'm surprised that it is not rail served. https://maps.app.goo.gl/j93hgYjDYDgFCxWX9

I'm glad you caught a photo of the old elevator when you did, because now most of it is gone, Jul, 2021.
