Andy Hughes: Wheeling was manned 24 hours and where signals ended. Dark territory into Schiller. But also double track Wheeling to Schiller.

I like the grain elevator in the background and the willingness of the railroad to spot just a couple of hoppers on the siding. It is hard to imagine that there were enough farms in the area to support a grain elevator. But a topo map shows that there was plenty of farmland back then. Unlike Downers Grove, where the depot is near the downtown, I see Wheeling is like Naperville in that the depot is several blocks away from downtown.

I think the suburban mayors compete as to who has the biggest clock tower.
