Still plenty of ancient signals, switches, and telegraph poles. Looks like the track is still being used. It’s always fun going through these small towns trying to trace the old ROW. Not much left of the old ROW for the Pennsylvania line from Columbus, IN. into Shelbyville, IN."
Travis Brown: A daily train delivers to local customers, goes to a small yard just in the distance and then returns to Indy. The track is still technically active to about 2 miles past this point, but it’s idled/rails pulled up in locations between there and Greensburg. I’ve seen a few track maintenance trucks and one locomotive go by, probably just testing signals…
Robert Chitwood: Plenty of evidence of a former second main track

John Walker: Columbus to Shelbyville would have been the Pennsylvania RR. Just east of Shelbyville down to Adam’s is pretty much abandoned. CSX comes to Shelbyville 2 to 3times a week.

Dennis DeBruler answered James question We are looking toward the depot and freight house because this tower was down by the Pennsy crossing, https://maps.app.goo.gl/gPaaWAZpwrjdyy4RA. 1961 aerial photo [AR1VAET00010007] |
