Depot: (
Satellite, as of May 2024 it doesn't appear on the map. See below for a Bing Map image of it.)
Wood Elevator: (
Satellite, it is in the middle of a current elevator.)

posted two photos with the comment: "The Milwaukee Road Depot that once stood so proudly in the small village of Elkader, Iowa was built in 1875. The Depot was taken down 1974. In 2012 a group of train enthusiasts gathered with a vision to rebuild the Depot and their vision becomes a reality with the Grand Opening being held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, from 1-4 PM. All are welcome at the Elkader Depot Museum."

Dennis DeBruler commented on Mary's post Where in town did they build it? The original location is now occupied by a grain elevator. 1967 Elkader Quad @ 24,000
Mary Witt: Dennis DeBruler The new Depot is built very close to where the original Depot stood. The address is 900 Mascara Road SE, Elkader, IA [Neither Google nor Bing Maps knows about Mascara Road. But I was able to find the depot using street view after Bing Maps gave me a location on High Street south of town. So on the above topo map, the depot is the white rectangle south of town rather than the solid black rectangle near town.] [Mary and I exchanged more comments because neither Google Maps or Bing Maps knows about Mascara Road.] |
The Bing Maps satellite is more recent because it does show the depot.

Deep in the guts of their elevator is the original wood elevator.
I presume the northern facility is a feed mill and the southern facility is grain storage.
