Fennimore, WI: Museum/Pretend C&NW Depot and Wood Water Tower

(Satellite, 129 photos)

I use the adjective "pretend" in the title because this is the city's former power plant that was remodeled to look like a depot. See the bottom of these notes for more information.

This is the Fennimore (WI) Railroad Historical Museum -- which is the one-time Fennimore C&NW station. View looks west. William Shapotkin slide dated June 17, 2020. (Bills 093)

They have also preserved a water tower and a small steam locomotive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/DSnb4mhPFy5w2FGJ9

I was surprised that the building was parallel to the town's street grid rather than to the railroad tracks. There are plenty of other buildings still on a diagonal to show where the railroad went through town.

Then I found out that this is not the actual depot building.
"The Fennimore Railroad Historical Society Museum, home of the “Dinky“, is located in the former city power house and utility building. The building has been remodeled inside and out to resemble a turn-of-the-century depot. The replica loading platform was built with sand and brick, just the way it was originally built, using brick from the original depot." [fennimore]
