Vincennes, IN: Union Depot Hotel & Station and (VN) Tower

Depot: (Satellite)
Tower: (Satellite)

Jhonson Lara posted four images with the comment:
- Four views of the Vincennes Union Depot Hotel and Station. Built in 1870, the Vincennes Union Depot Hotel and Station was once a hub of the city. Countless people passed through the depot which was located about halfway between St. Louis and Cincinnati.
The last occupants to stay in the hotel were people displaced by the 1937 Ohio River flood. Most of the building was razed just a few months later. A small corner portion of the depot is all that remained of the original structure until in was demolished in 2021.
Scott Sorensen: what part of vincennes is that?

It still shows up on a satellite map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/PySoosfF5v7c6KBB8

The B&O and C&EI were through routes. The Vandalia and Big Four were branches that terminated at the depot.

The 1915 map should show a bigger building, but it doesn't.

Larry McLin: That bridge over the Wabash River turned at that time. It's stationary now.
Jared Rearden: I maintain this territory now. The turntable is gone and so are the buildings, but there is still remnants of the old pole line system still on the bridge.
