| Andy Zukowski posted Tennessee, Illinois Railroad Depot Tennessee was founded because of the railroad. Platted in 1854 by Joseph B. Bacon, Steve Cockerham, and Thomas Waddle, the community was known for 20 years as 'Tennessee Station.' This small depot was probably erected shortly after the Northern Cross Railroad arrived in 1855, but this is an early 20th-century photograph, so the building may be a later one.
