The Old Gainesville Depot
Аlso known as the Seaboard Air Line Depot, is a historic railroad building in Gainesville, Florida. The current structure dates to 1907, when the Seaboard Air Line Railroad played an important role in the region’s transportation and commerce. The surrounding area was once an industrial hub, with lumber mills, warehouses, and other businesses relying on the railroad to move goods and connect Gainesville with other communities.
After its days as a passenger depot ended in the 1930s, the building was used for other commercial purposes. In 1996, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the depot stands as a reminder of Gainesville’s railroad and industrial past and is part of the historic landscape surrounding Depot Park, which opened in 2016.
Maksym Svishchov shared with the comment: "I’d like to share my visit to the historic train depot in Gainesville, Florida."
