The Rock Island Southern Railway, an interurban line, approached town from the southwest, went north along the west side of town and then evidently terminated at the mine northwest of town.

The City Hall and the buildings east of it are on a weird angle because the right-of-way came through here on an angle. The woods east of 63rd Street appear to be where the yard and mine were located. You can still see the land scar of the RoW across the field north of 1st Street.
