For you NKP modelers & historians, this is one instance where the company track chart is wrong. It shows the tower where the ICRR ties into the L&M RR. The tower was actually in the southeast quadrant of the NKP-ICRR crossing as clearly seen in this photo. Just a little trivia....... |

I'm having trouble locating where the depot was in Glen Carbon. Steve's track diagram shows it east of Meridian and between the Cloverleaf and L&M tracks. But on a 1941 aerial, I don't see any buildings big enough to be a depot. Any advice?
Dennis, The Glen Carbon Clover Leaf depot was obviously gone when the 1941 aerial survey photo was taken. Records indicate the structure was 16 X 32 feet and built in 1889. It seems that several rural wooden stations on the Clover Leaf were lost to fires in winter months. We know this happened at Neoga, IL and Linden, IN. Many known stations dissappeared very early and if freight & passenger traffic was light, the Clover Leaf would never have spent the money to rebuild. The most they would have done was drop a worn-out boxcar on the ground and call it a depot. - Steve

It sounds like the blue rectangle is the correct location, but the depot was gone by 1941.
