Christopher Pitzen: You can still see the outline of the roundhouse and turntable pit in the
satellite view.
Scott Janz:Wyeville tower closed on 9-21-1984.
The east/west route is UP/C&NW. The other route is labeled UP/CMO in the
SPV Map. Unfortunately, their Appendix does not include an entry for CMO so I don't know the name.
The image of the junction reminds us that Class I railroads do not like diamonds because they are a maintenance headache. So the "CMO" route is now two separate branches. There are no through trains on it.

View of the new Chicago & North Western Railway passenger depot and tower at Wyeville, Wisconsin in June 1912. This new depot replaced an earlier structure in 1912. Passenger service ended on July 23, 1963 when the "Twin Cities 400" and "Rochester 400" were discontinued. Today the station and tower are gone.. (C&NW Historical Society) Robert Chitwood: This view is looking north. Strangely the diamonds are gone, the east-west track is OK but the north and south tracks (down to single track) aren't connected if that makes sense |
