West Allis, WI: (Milwaukee area) Allis Chalmers Plant

Only the building along 70th Street still exists (for now).

I wonder if the "cabins" on the roof and the "side sculptures" are air-conditioning compressors on top and air ducts on the side.

Allis Chalmers plant, Milwaukee, WI 1909.
John Balistreri What's left of it is likely to be razed soon. Most of it is gone already.
[1909 is rather late for adding lots of black smoke to the painting.]
My 2005 SPV Map shows that the Hank Aaron State Trail used to be CP/Milwaukee. Note that an industrial spur that ran between the Milwaukee tracks and the UP/C&NW tracks still exists.

In fact, a passenger car is parked on an abandoned plant lead.. The SPV Map also indicates that Allis Chalmers was along this industrial spur and that it was owned by Siemens Power in 2005. It now appears to be owned by Toshiba America Energy Systems. Looking for more active industrial leads, I discovered why there is a passenger car parked on a lead --- the buildings on the east side of the spur is Avalon Rail. It looks like they restore historic passenger cars and design and build new cars.

[How many plants did Allis-Chalmers have in the Milqaukee area on 1920?]
Paul Nelson AC built some impressive heavy industrial equipment during its history in addition to the tractor/farm equipment division. Great pic- thanks for posting it.
Steve Hoshel The tractor/farm equipment division was among the smallest of the divisions in Allis-Chalmers, if not the smallest.
Mike Payack Still in use today!
Also every generator under Hoover dam is also Allis Chalmers~

A 21:13 video tour of the site  The beginning of the video said the farmers toured a tractor plant in Harvey, IL, but the video provides a tour of this site. (A quick Google search indicate A-C made engines there. That goes on the "to do" list.)
