Neogo, IL: Junction: CN/IC vs. (Aban+DREI/EIRC)/NKP(Cloverleaf) and Grain Elevator

(Satellite)

Paul Brewer posted four photos with the comment: "The DREI had two of their GPs (5569 and 3896) in Neoga last evening around sunset - 4/9/2020. Appeared to be waiting for loading of a grain train at the Total Grain Marketing elevator."
Dennis DeBruler So where does EIRC interchange the grain train? I assume it is not with CN or else EIRC would not be needed.
Paul Brewer Well, even when they did interchange with the CN, I believe EIRC (now DREI) did handle the trains, if even for the short distance. I am very ready to stand corrected regarding that from others that have been around longer than I have. HOWEVER, I think DREI may be pulling cars up to the east-west line in Metcalf, probably for interchange in Terre Haute or Decatur.
Dennis DeBruler Paul Brewer I was wondering if EIRC was now DREI. I got EIRC off a 2005 map. Thanks for the update.
Matt Davis The DREI does handle the cars off the CN, parking them on the north side of town.
Paul Brewer When EIRC was still active, sometimes CN would deliver to the EIRC north of Neoga as well. Some of those cars eventually went to ADM in Oakland, however.

I'm surprised that CN would be willing to tie up their mainilne waiting for DREI to fetch some hoppers off of it. But it looks like a satellite caught that scenario. Specifically, it looks like a southbound is blocked because there are cuts of hoppers on both tracks to the south.

Matt Davis Yeah there's a very long interchange track next to the main.

It looks like they were storing tank cars from here to just south of CR1100N because I don't see any ethanol plants in the area.
