Removing a power plant's smokestack is a big deal. It took several months to
remove one from a power plant in Romeoville, IL.
It looks like it was shutdown between 2011 and 2015, and rail service was from the south.

Jim Mihalek posted October 19, 2018 -- Rochester (MN) Public Utilities Silver Lake Plant. Can't say for certain but it may still be running using gas to generate electricity. The large chimney was removed in 2020, but the plant is otherwise intact. |
