Gavin Thunberg: Was located in the city of Mingo Junction, at the junction of the Pan Handle and River Line. This tower was used in the movie "Deer Hunter"

Leonard Hastings commented on the fourth photo
Always interesting to see how signalling colleagues overseas worked. I retired in '23 after a long spell at Three Bridges Area Signalling Centre in SE England. That's panel 6 that looked after Brighton on the Sussex coast. The 'box" as we called it was 87 vintage.

The blast furnace and ore bridge in the first photo above belonged to the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Plant. I was surprised that the trees in the photo below have grown so tall where the tower used to be, so I fired up Google Earth. The tower was gone by the oldest usable image, Mar 1995; but there were just shrubs back then. The trees would come and go, but the blast furnace disappeared between May 2012 and Aug 2015.
