Elevator: (Satellite)
This map not only marks the location of the depot, but it also shows the house track that we see in Trent's photo. And it marks the icehouse that was down by the river.

Trent Briggs posted New Boston, Illinois Depot and Tracks, with Ice house in distance Paul Schmidt: Last stop on the Joy branch. Paul Schmidt: It was still an active line in the 70's when I started working. There was a section crew out of Aledo with a foreman named Ferguson who was quite a character. I was working with a welder between Galesburg and East Dubuque so we visited all the obscure places. Not sure when it was abandoned. Nick Barman: Paul Schmidt the whole joy branch was abandoned in sections i think the last portion that was operating was aledo to joy i think the line was fully abandoned in 1987 |
