In addition to animal feed (I spotted three feed trucks), the co-op sells propane and fertilizers.

The Wisconsin Central arrived in 1873. CN now owns the route. [ClarkCountyWI] Kudos to CN because a Class I railroad is still providing carload service to the co-op. I see nine hopper cars on the siding.

The 2005 SPV Map labels the track along the lakefront as LE&W. Obviously, Pennsy snarfed up the TC&O route.

The LE&W used to go straight through the BJ Junction, loop around the lakefront and then south down to the BO Junction. Note that Pennsy built their dock after 1904, maybe even after 1941.

Galena, IL: Galena Tower: IC vs. CB&Q

(Satellite)

William Brown posted
From the "Historic Galena" Facebook page, in 1915 in Galena, Illinois, near the former Marine Hospital, this interlocking tower protected the CB&Q/IC Crossing on the east side of the river. Did it also control the lift bridge?
Greg Bonnell: I was not aware that the CB&Q went through Galena at one time. Was this just a branch line?
John Snapp:Greg Bonnell Yes, it was a 4 mile branch line from Galena Jct. to Galena. The tower was built in 1900. The CB&Q spur to Galena perhaps abandoned circa 1961.

Dennis DeBruler commented on William's post
Since that is the Marine Hospital (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qiw6yJeWiyz6HeQi7) in the right background of the photo, I think the tower is along the IC track that goes along the front of William's photo. So the tower was in the southeast quadrant of the crossing. 1913 Galena Quad @ 62,500

I started by looking for a building between the two branches. Instead, the depot was along the Memphis & Louisville route.

Here's that very mill from Pittsburgh Steel Allenport, Pa.
My Grandfather was the Mechanical Works Group Manager and Project Head for NSC's Hot Mill Expansion (1989-1992) together with US Engineers of United Engineering inc. Probably this is one of United's last major projects abroad. Previously a Mechanical Section Head of NSC's Central Engineering Group (CEG). Sad to say this mill in fact has a new life but did not last long here. The 66" hot strip mill of National Steel Corporation (NSC), Philippines. Hot strip mill #2. This is the only hot strip mill in Ph. Now it is left rotting and the NSC plant complex is slowly being looted.

Jeff Picka: My copy of Iron and Steel Works of the World from 1956 suggests that the Pittsburgh Steel Co used this plant to make hot and cold rolled sheets, seamless pipes, forged tubular products, and seamless mechanical and pressure tubing. Their Monessen site had the blast furnaces, basic open heart furnaces for ingot production, and some rod and wire mills.
