The Malinta, OH NKP depot and outbuildings. Malinta, a small town of 265, was located at the former junction of the DT&I and Nickel Plate Road in Northwest Ohio. Although the interlocking tower and NKP tracks are long gone, the historical society has gone to great lengths to preserve the history of their town, preserving the NKP depot, 1952 DT&I caboose (appears to be of Wabash heritage), a (DT&I?) speeder/maintainer shed, and a original NKP shanty that was located on a farm and moved back to Malinta, within 100ft of it's original location. The depot was preserved through an interesting series of events, beginning with it's move to nearby Grand Rapids, OH for passenger service on the Bluebird passenger train. Threatened with destruction in 1982, the depot came home, and was lovingly restored by the local historical society.
