Hamburg, IA: Flood of 2019: Grain Elevators

(see below for satellite info)

Heavy rain in Iowa led to flooded and broken silos in Hamburg, as grain spilled out, making the silos inoperable and the grain impossible to sell. https://abcn.ws/2FC1RXN

Looking at a satellite image, there are several grain elevators in this town. Bartlett Grain has an older facility on the west side of town and a newer one on the east side along the flood plain. United Farmers Cooperative is near the bottom, and it looks like a feed mill. There is another facility in the upper-right corner. And Manildra Milling Corp. makes flour.

I believe it was the eastern Bartlett Grain facility that was in the video. I think their western facility is in the background of the screenshot below. Judging by the water level on the "white building," all of the bins were in water. So, even if a bin did not burst, the contents were lost because, if the grain gets wet, it is worthless.

It looks like they scraped the site clean and built a new facility.

It is interesting that they used a mix of concrete and metal bins in the reconstruction. You don't see many jump-form concrete bins being built now days.
