Jon Wolfe posted 1954 Seattle Bob Featherstone: Bethlehem made this facility into and EAF shop if it wasn't in 1954. In about 1985 it was sold as a separate company called Seattle Steel. They installed a four -strand, continuous billet caster almost immediately. After that, I lost track but I believe Nucor became involved somewhere along the way. Dan Plute: Bob Featherstone I was a motor inspector and later electronic repairman. 1978 through 1985. Grandpa was brought as a head roller by William Pigot from Colorado Fuel & Iron to start the original (Seattle Steel) operation up. My dad worked at Nut & Bolt. Then 2 brothers in the bar mill. Lots of history there. Michael Maitland: This is now a successful Nucor plant on 2424 SW Andover Street. The container terminal just to the north was once Todd Shipyards. Very busy during WW2. Believe they were tied into Bethlehem somehow. |

1 [Very seldom do I see a ladel in the fully dumped position. This shows how a secondary hook is attached to the bottom of the ladle to lift it for dumping.] |
