Worldwide Railfan Productions posted Nickel Plate 765 passes Reading Grain Elevator Operating on Indiana Northeastern, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society operated NKP 765, a 2-8-4 Berkshire, on 6/17 and 6/18. For the 2023 season, 765 is painted without the white-walled tires. Location: Reading, MI By: Brandon Fiume Taken on: June 18, 2023 |
Unlike Class I railroads, the Indiana Northeastern Railroad (IN) shortline is more than happy to load grain trains and run steam locomotive excursions. IN also hosted some excursion trains at Pleasant Lake, IN. This route through Reading is the former NYC route of Fort Wayne, Jackson & Saginaw.
When I looked at a satellite map, I discovered that there is also an older elevator that is not rail served.

I wonder if this old facility is still used.
