Sayre, OK: Wood Grain Elevators and Rock Island Depot

Elevator: (Satellite)
Depot: (Satellite)

I normally don't bother posting about rustic elevators, but this posting was of interest because it included information on the railroad service.

Note in the satellite image that on the other side of the original elevators they have added a long building for grain storage. But the elevator is probably not rail served because it does not have a "fall protector."

The comments on the posting indicate that this former Rock Island town is now on the Farmrail Railroad.

William Brown posted two photos with the comment: "On my way back from Higgins, Texas, I stopped in Sayre, Oklahoma and found the Rock Island Depot, now the Short Grass Museum. It was closed on Sunday, but I believe it's worth another visit. I also noticed an abandoned grain elevator across the street."
