The former Buhler Mill in Buhler Kansas was on the Friso railroad. ADM purchased this mill and their other mill in nearby Inman Kansas in the late '70's as I recall. ADM closed down this mill and elevator probably about 20 years ago. The Frisco has since abandoned this branch line. The flour mill is no longer in operation but the elevator is now a branch location of the Mid Kansas Cooperative based in Moundridge Kansas.
1 David Budka If it is set up like the mill I work in the four or five silos between the elevator and the mill building are the grinding tanks. The elevator operator would blend the grain, and then send it to the grinding tanks. The Smut Miller would then select the grain of appropriate protein content, run it through the separators and other grain cleaners, then send it to the roller mills. |
