Wildwood, FL: CSX/SCL Wildwood Yard

(Satellite)

Randall Thorton posted five photos with the comment: "Wildwood, Florida, was a major junction on the SAL.  Attached is an aerial photo from the early 60's showing the yard.  Movement of trains through and in and out of the yard and the branch line was controlled by an operator in the depot, photo also attached.  He was a busy man all day long with two switchers on both the north and end of the yard, control of the wye, and all through trains."
Reggie Prevatt: Greg Muzzle. That was the Royal Palm Ice Plant. It is labeled in photo #2 and is seen with an iceblock bridge running between the plant and the actual icing platform located in the middle of the north yard. The platform is how in photos 1&2. But photos 3&4 are later photos that show the icing platform and iceblock bridge removed. In 3&4 the icing platform was located in the wide area between the two tracks, that are 3-5 tracks to the left of the large ice plant building in photos 3&4.c

Piles of landscaping material now cover the old steam engine servicing facility.

Several of the tracks still exist in this yard.
