A lot of industries were established along the Fox River because of the water power. The C&NW had a spur that went North to St Charles, IL. And it had two spurs that went south along the river. The one on the west side of the river went past its depot on Houston Street and continued to Aurora. This spur also served several industries. The spur on the east side of the river served some industries along the Batavia Dam.

Dennis DeBruler commented on Colin's comment Thanks. I was aware that C&NW had a branch through Batavia on the west side of the river. The current location of the CB&Q depot (Batavia Depot Museum) used to be the location of the C&NW depot. But I was not aware that C&NW also had a spur on the east side. https://www.google.com/.../data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1slx9iB3Mr... |

Dennis DeBruler commented on Ken's comment It appears that this spur connected with the CA&E. 1950 Aurora North Quadrangle @ 1:24,000 |
