I remember from studying the
Sloss Blast Furnaces that there was iron, coal and limestone in the mountains around Birmingham. So this would have been some of the coal.

The Walker County Buzzard posted MR. HEMAN II DRAGLINE TO BE FEATURED IN UPCOMING TRANSFORMERS SEQUEL
CURRY - Transformers franchise executive producer, Michael Bay has reportedly cast rusting, Burrows Crossing Rd dragline "Mr. Heman II" in a supporting role in the upcoming Transformers sequel.
Mr. Heman II will reportedly play the role of Carbonus Dig, a noble Autobot tasked with protecting energon deposits located under the area's coal beds.

Some comments mentioned that the back legs of the A-frame have been replaced with safety cables. The above photo shows what the A-frame is supposed to look like.
