Ok been on this Rock Island history trip on YouTube lately! And was looking at Sylvis Yards and shops on Google Earth. Followed the CRIP west a bit and saw this former roundhouse, any idea who had a yard here??
Gary Sprandel: A check of Rail Guide shows Rock Island as the closest set of tracks to the facility and a joint Burlington Milwaukee Road line running next to it so either a Q or Milwaukee facility thar was accessible from the RI, a secondary satellite facility for the RI possibly for the yard engines to keep them clear of the main shops or possibly a factory or other facility that had it's own locos.
Bruce Schreiber: I actually believe this was a roundhouse for the Davenport, Rock Island and Northwestern Railroad. They interchanged with the CB&Q near 11th street and (south of) River roads before going a little further and crossing the river to home tracks. From what I can tell …. The DRI&NW services the manufacturers on both sides of the river.
It should be noted that it appears the DRI&NW also interchanged with the Milwaukee Rd a little further East as well.
Dennis DeBruler: I just confirmed with Douglas Weitzman, a former RI terminal superintendent, that this was not a Rock Island yard. So I changed my comment to remove that speculation.

It appears that about 2/3 of the roundhouse has been removed.
Jeremy Harris: Dennis DeBruler that was a good sized yard!!

This is the oldest high-res topo map I could find of the area.
