| Matt Davis posted The Illinois Central depot was at the west end of Pembroke Street. A couple of presidents made stops here during their campaigns. The first was Theodore Roosevelt in 1912, and then Richard Nixon in 1960. Although Amtrak still uses this line, passenger trains haven't made scheduled stops here in 1964. |
It is a lot easier to spot the depot when the bay window has its own gable roof rather than the bay window being under the large eaves.

| Andy Zukowski posted Southbound Shawnee Here we see train number 391 hurtling down the track at Tuscola, Illinois. Once again, this tower (TY) guards a three-way crossing with the Illinois Central, B&O, and C&EI. I thought Christian Goepel might enjoy all the track-side structures and details in this one. The speed limit at the time was 90 MPH, and this train was doing every bit of that as I recall; I have the feeling I was perched on a signal for this shot. Image by Richard Koenig, taken on November 20th 1976. Anthony Belscamper: The diamond was 60 m.p.h. for passenger and looking at the photo it looks like the smoke coming off the wheel is a pretty good indication that the engineer is slowing it down to 60 m.p.h.
