Manitowoc, WI: A wave destroys a 20' lighthouse on the south breakwater

It was the modern 20'-tall fiberglass lighthouse on the south breakwater. It flashed a green light every 2.5 seconds.

The "hunk of concrete" near the left side of this photo was the foundation.

It fell into the lake before 9am, Jan 7, 2019. The best info I found was a NBC25news page (source) that has a copy of a Fox11news report. The following are screenshots from a video in that report. Ann Barbeau is a "wave fan." She caught a big one. Since shipping on the Great Lakes stops for the winter by now, the Coast Guard doesn't plan to replace it until the Spring. (I wonder how much of the Coast Guard is affected by our current Government shutdown.)

The National Weather Service predicted that the entire Lake Michigan shoreline would be pounded as a cold front traveled across the lake. I copied the content because I don't trust the permanence of the link.
