According to the 2005 SPV Map, this junction is indeed named simply "Junction."
See Norfolk Southern Maps for an overview of today's railroad configuration in Fort Wayne.
The STL in the lower-left corner of the topo map is the end of the real name for the Nickel Plate Railroad. That surprised me until I remembered that Lake Erie & Western had a lot of "tendrils" in Indiana. Sure enough, it did come into Fort Wayne from Bluffton and Muncie.
Tommy Lee Fitzwater posted Year? Howard Pletcher Photo mislabeled, not NYC and not a depot. This is Junction Tower on the PRR on the south side of Jefferson, controlling the junction with the GR&I RR and the Nickel Plate crossing here. GE powerhouse is in the background. Likely ca 1910 when the depot photo downtown was taken. Dennis Boyd Tower was razed in the late-80's. http://www.fwarailfan.net/fortwayne_junction.htm |
Dennis Boyd commented on Tommy's post From 1985, Vailbruna Stainless would now be on the left hand side of this photo. |
Dennis DeBruler commented on Tommy's post 1956 Fort Wayne West Quadrangle @ 1:24,000 |
Dennis DeBruler commented on Tommy's post I think the concrete in the lower-right corner was part of the foundation. https://www.google.com/.../@41.0715586,-85.../data=!3m1!1e3 |
