Saskatoon, SK: New G3 Grain Elevator

I learned about this elevator from an article about two newer elevators that G3 is building. I believe this is the terminal elevator referenced in the article.

G3 is building new elevators in Canada with both silos and bins. The silos appear to have bands, but they are not consistent. Since I don't see any gaps between the silos, I assume these are slip form silos with some sort of variance from day to day to cause the banding.

They plan to fill 150-car unit trains with a loop track.

I see the conversion between pounds and bushels is 56 for corn & sorghum and 60 pounds for soybeans & wheat. I also don't know if they are talking British or American tons. I'm going to assume 2000 lbs/ton. So the Swift Current elevator will be able to hold between 1.4 million bushels and 1.5mb.

Bob Summers Looks like some enterprising elevator designer/builder has discovered that slip form would not have to be poured 24/7. If they stopped at the end of a shift, probably put a seal at the top of what they poured, then resumed the next day it would probably have this look. Might see more built this way as could provide most of the economies of jump form while giving the bin design and layout options of "old school" slip form. Might be a great alternative!!!!

I don't know at which specific location this photo was taken, but it is another view of banding in what otherwise appears to be slip-form construction.
